The B.Voc Optometry and Ophthalmological Techniques programmed of MES Keveeyam College were started 1st November 2018 with a sanctioned seat of 50. The course provides ambient teaching atmosphere for the students. It also facilitates the vocational taining & soft skill development, enhance the awareness for the patient's vision treatment for the eye diseases and  earned skills for diagnosis & referals also. Students  empower their skills to get profession on areas such as Hospital professional Optometrist,  indepndent clinician, Industries, Accademic carrier Opportunities , Retail in Optometry depends on their passion. It also offer ICT based knowledge for nourishing the skill as an optometrist. This is a three year program with three exit options each at the completion of every even semester with a diploma certificate, advanced diploma certificate and a graduation certificate respectively. As a part of curriculum the program has six months internship at the end of the third year - sixth semester . The program also short  internships program and industrial visits in each semester.

                      The program was started with two faculties, one with full time service and other part time. 29 students were admitted from 65 applications received for the program for the academic year 2017-2018. During 2019-2020, the admission of this course is tremendously increased. A strength of 42 students constitute the second batch of the programme, started in the academic year 2019-20. Now the department have three faculties with full time service and excellent infrastructure including fully furnished and skill development classrooms with ICT facilities and sophisticated optometry /microbiology labs. A strength of 49 students constitute the third batch of the programme, started in the academic year 2020-21.Now the department have four faculties with full time service.
