Department of Psychology

      MES KVM College has been serving the state since 1981 with an aim to educate and shape the growing society. The institution grew as per the needs of the student population in the district particularly. Considering the need for a programme in psychology, MES KVM College established the Department of Psychology in the year 2015 as a self-financing unit.

The sanctioned strength of students approved by Calicut University in the starting year was thirty. Now, it has been extended to forty five. The department stays true to the mission by striving for academic proficiency and co-curricular activities. Students have shown remarkable performance in academics, sports, and arts. The well-established setting and notable performance of the department is now attracting students of other districts, states and countries.

One of the most notable features of the department is the psychology laboratory which is well equipped with instruments, standardized questionnaires, and performance tests to conduct experiments in Psychology. Each element in the lab, starting from the seating to equipment has been carefully designed to meet the requirement of the students. By the end of the three-year course, students develop the skills required for administering and interpreting psychological tests of different kinds. The laboratory also extends its support and services to the research activities undertaken by its faculty members.

In addition to the lab, there are ICT enabled settings to make the classroom attentive and impressive. The collection of reference texts and journals which are carefully picked and updated contributes to the glory of the department.  The faculty members and management is prompt in meeting the requirements of the department. The harmony, unity, and goal direction of the members have helped in facing every crisis strongly.

The psychology association, Nefsiga has gained attention in the college through constant effort in organizing seminars, workshops, extension programs, quiz competitions etc.
